The cleanup continues in Asheboro after a round of severe weather packed a serious punch on Saturday.

A home along Cliff Road took a direct hit when a large tree snapped and fell into the roof, leaving two big holes over two bedrooms, according to homeowner Joseph Taureck, who said the roof is now covered by a tarp and water poured in before it was secured. No one was home when it happened, but one limb hit the home's HVAC unit. Randolph County Emergency Services Director Jared Byrd said crews received 148 storm-related calls over the weekend, starting around 2 p.m. Saturday and continuing until noon Sunday, with fallen trees keeping crews busiest, including 10 reports of trees on homes.

Taureck is still waiting on the roofer to make repairs, and Byrd said all power outages have now been restored.
