As of Tuesday, June 16, 2026, the most useful fresh Star News arts-and-culture update is not another June 20-27 repeat. The cleaner next move is a late-June and July planner built from official Martinsville and Danville museum, library and civic calendars that are still live today.
- June 27-Aug. 14: Piedmont Arts begins its next exhibit cycle with Expressions 2026: America 250 and Works by Lily Ebrahimi on view in Martinsville, giving readers a dependable gallery stop beyond opening night.
- June 29: Danville's Ruby B. Archie Public Library is listing Get Connected! Adult LEGO Hour twice, at 1:30 p.m. and again at 5:30 p.m., for adults who want a low-pressure creative social option.
- June 30: The library follows with Adult Arts and Crafts: Clothespin Star Decoration from 5 to 6 p.m., a practical little pre-holiday craft night.
- July 2-5: The Danville Museum of Fine Arts & History stays useful for holiday-weekend planning with the Danville Public School Student Art Exhibit still on view through July 12. Posted public hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
- July 4: Danville's free July 4 Celebration runs from 6 to 10 p.m. at Carrington Pavilion. The official city listing says gates open at 6 p.m., Seven Til Sunrise performs at 7:20 p.m., and the fireworks display starts at dusk.
- July 17: Piedmont Arts brings back Franks + Dranks from 6 to 9 p.m. with music by William Nesmith. Tickets are listed at $20 general admission and $10 for ages 12 and under.
- July 23: The Piedmont Arts Guild hosts a free Art Talk with Lily Ebrahimi from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., with RSVP requested by Wednesday, July 22.
- July 24-25: The Virginia Museum of Natural History rolls out Dino Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days in Martinsville, with dinosaur experts, themed activities, animatronic dinosaurs and food vendors.
- July 27-31: VMNH also still lists Junior Detective Camp for ages 9-11, running 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Registration is still posted as open as of June 16.
This brief works better than another broad roundup because it gives readers a clear next-calendar view: one ongoing exhibit cycle, a few easy end-of-June community stops, one big free holiday event, one ticketed arts night, one free lunchtime talk and two strong family museum anchors later in July.
