Roanoke families looking for a practical summer cool-off option can still use the city's two outdoor pools, but there is one entry detail to remember before heading out.
Roanoke Parks and Recreation says Fallon Park Pool and Washington Park Pool are open for the summer season and operate six days a week. The city directs visitors to check each pool's weekly schedule, hours and admission details before leaving home.
The visitor update worth noting: Roanoke's clear-bag policy for both pools began Monday, June 22, 2026. The department says patrons are encouraged to bring their own clear bags to speed entry, with clear bags available on-site for purchase once the initial free supply is gone.
Pool rules also remind visitors that flotation devices, fins and snorkels are not permitted, while U.S. Coast Guard-approved life vests are allowed. Food is limited to concession or grass areas, and glass, alcohol and smoking in locker rooms are prohibited.
The practical read: check the current pool page for hours, pack a clear bag, and review rules before arriving so the visit stays simple for kids and caregivers.
