Professional tennis returns to Winston-Salem Aug. 22-29 when the Winston-Salem Open stages its 15th-anniversary tournament at the Wake Forest University Tennis Complex.
The tournament's official site describes the event as an ATP Tour 250 stop with a 48-player singles draw, a 16-team doubles draw and more than $775,000 in total prize money. It is scheduled as the final ATP tournament before the U.S. Open.
The complex is at 100 W. 32nd St., Winston-Salem. The official single-session schedule lists reserved tickets starting at $11 for the opening session Saturday, Aug. 22, when gates open at 10 a.m. and matches begin at 11 a.m. The final session is listed for Saturday, Aug. 29, with gates opening at 12:30 p.m. and matches starting at 1:30 p.m.
Other sessions run through the week with afternoon and evening start times, and the tournament site lists community, first-responder, military and educator appreciation activities among its special events.
