Pittsylvania County and the Town of Hurt are asking residents to attend two public meetings on a potential grant application for upgrades to Hurt's water-treatment system.
The meetings are scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, and 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Hurt Town Hall, 533 Pocket Road. A public-comment period will follow the county's presentation at each meeting.
The localities say the potential Community Development Block Grant application would support improvements to the existing water-treatment plant and related infrastructure. The stated goals are to improve reliability, efficiency and long-term sustainability while supporting economic development and dependable drinking-water service for residents and businesses.
- What to know: Attendees are asked to arrive five to 10 minutes early and sign in.
- Accessibility: Accommodation requests for the June 24 meeting are due by 5 p.m. June 23; requests for the July 1 meeting are due by 5 p.m. June 30.
- Why it matters: Public input can shape the grant application before funding and project-scope decisions are final.
Residents can contact Pittsylvania County at 434-432-7710 or the Town of Hurt at 434-608-0554 for project or meeting information.
