Rockingham County utility customers in the southwest service area can return to normal water use after the county lifted its boil-water advisory.
The county's current emergency notice says water samples indicated the supply is safe for people and pets following repairs. The lifted advisory had covered areas in and around Lemons Road, Lemons Loop, Rams Loop, Twin Creeks, Brookfield, NC Highway 65, Ogburn Mill Road, Colly Farm Subdivision and Colly Place Subdivision.
The advisory had been issued as a precaution after a water-system repair and loss of pressure. A pressure loss can allow contaminants to enter a distribution system, so customers were told to boil water until laboratory testing confirmed it met drinking-water standards.
- What to know: Boiling water is no longer required in the listed areas.
- Who is affected: Rockingham County utility customers in the southwest county service area near the Reidsville and NC 65 corridor.
- Practical step: Customers may want to flush household lines briefly and discard ice made during the advisory before resuming normal use.
This is a material update to the advisory GetStarNews reported on June 16. Customers should continue to use the county emergency page for any later water-system notices.
