Greensboro's Community Safety Department is opening its summer violence-prevention campaign with a free public event this Friday.
Peace on Purpose is scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2026, at Barber Park Amphitheater, 1500 Barber Park Drive. The city says the fourth annual event will launch 100 Days of Peace, a collaborative campaign with multiple events hosted by organizations across Greensboro.
- What to know: The free event is expected to include food, games, entertainment and speakers.
- Public safety focus: City staff plan to share an update on Greensboro's Comprehensive Community Safety Plan.
- Why it matters: The event connects residents with community organizations, prevention programs, crisis-intervention services and case-management resources during National Gun Violence Awareness Month.
Residents interested in community safety, youth activities, neighborhood violence prevention or city support services can attend the event and follow the city's Community Safety Department for additional 100 Days of Peace programming.
