Martinsville's long-range growth plan is moving into another public milestone, with the city's comprehensive plan update scheduled for a Planning Commission final review worksession next week.
The city lists the Planning Commission Final Review Worksession for 4 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2026. Public hearings for adoption are still listed for late summer, with exact dates to be announced.
- What it covers: A comprehensive plan guides land use, redevelopment, capital improvements, transportation, environmental priorities and historic-resource decisions.
- Who is affected: Residents, businesses, developers, neighborhood groups and property owners can all be affected by the policy direction in the final plan.
- Why it matters: The plan becomes the city's formal guide for future rezoning decisions, public investments and redevelopment priorities.
Martinsville says the update process began in November 2024 and is expected to be completed in late summer 2026. Residents who followed the spring 2025 engagement work should watch the June 8 review and later adoption hearings for final policy language.
