Martinsville families face June 9 deadline for summer meal delivery

Martinsville families who want free direct-to-home summer meal kits have a June deadline to act.

Martinsville City Public Schools says registration is open for meal kits delivered directly to homes by UPS, FedEx or USPS. The opportunity is open to youth 18 and under, and children do not have to be enrolled in Martinsville City Public Schools to receive the boxes.

  • Deadline: The initial registration deadline is 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
  • What families receive: Validated addresses are scheduled to receive a weekly kit beginning the week of June 28, with 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches and milk in each delivery.
  • Program note: The district says the final delivery is scheduled for the week of August 2, and children receiving direct-to-home kits are not eligible for site meals on days meals are delivered to the home.

Families with children enrolled in a Boys & Girls Club program in Martinsville City should read the district's eligibility note before registering. Questions can be directed to the MCPS School Nutrition Office at 276-638-3005.
