Danville tourism team brings travel creators to Southside

Danville's tourism office is using creator marketing to put more outside attention on Southside Virginia.

The Danville Office of Economic Development and Tourism says Visit SoSi hosted eight travel and lifestyle content creators for a familiarization tour from June 27-29, 2026. The visit was coordinated with TBEX North America, a travel-creator conference network.

The city says the itinerary highlighted attractions, restaurants, outdoor activities and cultural experiences in Danville and Pittsylvania County. The goal is to turn creator visits into photos, video, travel recommendations and social posts that reach people outside the local market.

  • What to know: The tour followed a period of heavy tourism promotion around Visit SoSi, Caesars Virginia, River District destinations and regional history assets.
  • Who is affected: Restaurants, hotels, shops, museums, outfitters, event venues and tourism stakeholders across Danville and Pittsylvania County.
  • Why it matters: Travel-creator coverage can help smaller destinations reach visitors who may not see traditional ads or statewide tourism campaigns.

Local businesses with visitor-facing experiences should track Visit SoSi channels and creator posts for follow-up opportunities, especially if a featured stop produces measurable web traffic or bookings.
