Drivers in Henry and Patrick counties have several VDOT work zones to keep on the calendar as mid-July road work continues.
In Henry County, VDOT says a portion of Route 1326 (Wilson Avenue) in the 300 block area is scheduled to close at 8 a.m. Monday, July 13, for a pipe replacement and reopen no later than 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2026, weather permitting. The posted detour uses Theatre Street, Joseph Martin Highway and Stuart Ridge Road.
VDOT also lists two later Henry County closures: Route 1330 (Mountain View Road) at the 240 block beginning July 27, and a portion of Route 949 (Spencer Penn Road) beginning August 3 for weekday pipe-replacement closures. Spencer Penn Road work is expected to run weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through August 14, with weekend reopening.
- What to know: Route 930 (Dogwood Drive) remains closed to through traffic for Route 58 safety improvements, with a signed detour using Lakewood Trail and Laurel Drive.
- Patrick County watch: VDOT says Route 8 and Route 836 work continues with intermittent flagging, while the Route 58 Lovers Leap project remains under construction with a 45-mph speed reduction and traffic pattern changes.
- Driver action: Use posted detours, allow extra time, and do not rely on older route habits around short-term pipe replacements.
VDOT says schedules can shift because of weather or field conditions. Drivers should check 511, VDOT alerts and local message boards before travel.
